Take Pride of our own Nation
71Be it big or small, popular or unpopular, develop or undeveloped – Take pride of it!
If
you desire to travel overseas but belong to the latter sides of the
type of country I described above you don’t need to be threatened or
feel inferior. What matters most is the kind of person you are and your
intentions for visiting a bigger, popular and developed country.
Why
do I say this? I for one, came from a small and one of the third world
countries which is the Philippines or known as the Philippine Islands
(PI). But no matter what, I take pride of being a filipino citizen.
The Philippines
… A country worthy of a visit ….
All
countries have good and bad points. My country has the same. But being
aware of the negative side of my country makes me appreciate the
positive and best side of it.
If you have great interest in
travelling outside your country for a holiday trip or visit, why not
include in your shortlist of “Country for a Holiday Break” > The
Philippines :-)
It is also known as the “Pearl of the Orient Seas”.
It
comprises of more than 7,000 islands of which about 4,000 are inhabited
and is located in the Pacific Ocean. It is near other oriental
countries such as China, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong & Indonesia
and easily accessible from Australia and New Zealand.
There are
also different social classes found in the Philippines. From Top to
bottom, the A-class to E-class, or the so-called “Below Poverty line.”
We have the Elites, the Rich, the Middle-class, the Poor, and the
Poorest. Family Planning seems to be an issue ever since that it
affects the increasing population of the country. With the country’s
present economic crisis, I think we are not as bad or miserable as some
other countries that we know.
The government is still capable of
doing something about the economic condition of our country. Though,
some Filipinos like our government, and some doesn’t. I think this is
common to all countries where there are different political views. On
the other hand, most Filipinos are also striving to live a decent life
despite the economic condition and crisis present in the country. About
11% of the population work overseas to earn a better income to support
their families. Other Filipinos who are not keen on travelling or
working abroad are also contented to stay in the country and work for a
living. Basically, in matters of work and family life, Filipinos are
industrious, persevering, and self-sacrificing.
Few good things I can tell about our country and its people:
1) Filipinos are friendly, cheerful, and very hospitable
2) The observance of “Close family ties”
3) Strong Religious Orientation and adherence to moral values
4) Parents always strive to support and provide Good and Quality Education to their children from Primary to Collegiate Level.
5)
English and Tagalog (national language) is the primary language spoken
in the country, apart from the different local dialects.
6) The weather is warm.
7) There are several beautiful views, historical and tourist spots found in our country.
8) Filipinos have great interest in old and new technology
If you want to see and or stay in decent places in the Philippines - I can name few:
Luzon:
1) Makati City – the metropolis, its clean and Not crowded
2) Baguio City – one of the coldest places in Luzon
3) Tagaytay
4) Boracay
5) Palawan
Visayas:
6) Cebu City – there is also an International Airport
7) Bohol
Mindanao:
8) Cagayan de Oro City
9) Bukidnon
10) Davao City
11) Camiguin Island
12) Butuan City
